R E S O L U T I O N (3) W H E R E A S , on September 17,1930, the Board of Trustees, by resolution, agreed to pay the cost of a proposed pavement abutting University property on Florida Avenue in the City of Urbana, Illinois, to the extent to which the value of University property was enhanced by the improvement; and W H E R E A S , it now appears that this improvement enhances the value of University property in the sum of not to exceed $24,640; therefore, B E IT R E S O L V E D that the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby accepts the improvement and agrees to pay on account of the same, on or before September 30, 1933, not exceeding the total sum of $24,640. O n motion of M r . Barrett, these resolutions were adopted.

RULES FOR OPERATION OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITAL

(8) The Fifty-Seventh General Assembly passed a law providing that the general management, control, and operation of the Research and Educational Hospital shall be in the Department of Public Welfare and the University, and that in general the Department may have the administration and the University the research, educational, and professional activities. The statute authorizes the Department and the University to make general rules for the operation and maintenance of the Hospital, which rules shall be binding on the Department and the University until modified by mutual agreement. A joint committee representing the Department of Public Welfare and the faculty of the College of Medicine has been studying the organization of the work of the Research and Educational Hospital and the relationships between the Department and the University. This committee submits a draft of an agreement between the Department and the University for the operation of the Hospital. A t this point, D e a n Davis, Judge Johnson, a n d Professor W h i t e were introduced. D e a n Davis read the draft of the agreement. After discussion, the draft of the agreement w a s referred to the University Counsel for revision a n d presentation at a later meeting.

SCHOOL FOR NURSES

O n motion of M r . Armstrong, the President of the University w a s requested to have a study m a d e of the problem of establishing a school for nurses in connection with the Chicago departments.

PURCHASE OF DENTAL BUILDING BONDS

(9) A report from the Comptroller that pursuant to the action of the Board of Trustees at its last meeting he has concluded the purchase of $1,000 of 6 % bonds of the College of Physicians and Surgeons which are secured by a mortgage on the Dental Building, at a price of 99 plus accrued interest. These bonds will be canceled at the next interest date, January 1, 1932. This report w a s received for record.

POPE MORTGAGE (TRUST FUNDS)

(10) The Comptroller reports that in accordance with the authorization of the Board at its last meeting (Minutes, page 424) he has concluded an extension of the original trust deed on the B. W . Pope mortgage loan on 400 acres of land near Benton, Illinois, for $5,000 at 6 % for two years. This report w a s received for record.
