APPROPRIATION F O R MILITARY B A R N S (21) A report from the Supervising Architect that on October 22 at n :io p.m. a :5re started in a barn used by the Military Department, destroying seventy tons of baled hay and damaging the building which is of steel frame construction with roof and side walls of asbestos and corrugated iron. The building damage is estimated at $2500 and the hay loss (which is the Government's loss) at $1000. I recommend that an appropriation of $2500, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the restoration of this building. O n motion of M r s . ASSIGNMENT OF PATENT TO UTILITIES RESEARCH COMMISSION Mr. Barrett presented the following report of the Committee on Patents, and stated that Mr. Williams had written him an expression of approval of the report. August 5, 1931 Your Committee on Patents has considered a proposal made by the Utilities Research Commission concerning the commercial development of patents which have been or may be obtained on discoveries made in the course of a cooperative investigation concerning the elimination of sulphur fumes in stack gases.
