(27) A report from the Comptroller that pursuant to the authorization and instructions of the Executive Committee at its meeting on August 25, 1931, he has taken possession of and transferred to the Treasurer of the University the following securities constituting the endowment of the Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship established by President Emeritus Kinley: Illinois Water Service Company, 5 % First Mortgage Bonds, due January 1, 1953 $10 000 N e w England Power Association, 5 ^ 4 % Gold Debentures, due December 1, 1954 2 000 St. Louis, Springfield, & Peoria R. R. Company, 5 % First & Refunding Mortgage Gold Bonds, due December 1, 1939 5 000 Sedalia Water Company, 5 K % First Mortgage 20-year Gold Bonds, due February I, 1947 3 000 T h i s report w a s received for record.

BIRD HAVEN MEMORIAL. ASSOCIATION

(28) A report of the offer of certain land near Olney, Illinois, from the Bird Haven Memorial Association through Mrs. Charles L. Hutchinson of Chicago, which was received in October, 1930, and reported to the Board on October 17, 1930 (Minutes, page 106). N o action w a s taken on this offer.

DEATH BENEFIT. P. C. LUDOLPH

(29) A report of the death of Paul Christian Ludolph, Assistant in Physics, on September 8, 1931. He had been on the staff from September 1, 1927, to September 8, 1931. The death benefit payable in this case is $300. I recommend that an appropriation of $300 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose and that the Comptroller be authorized to pay this amount to Mr. Ludolph's designated beneficiary. O n motion of M r . Trees, this appropriation w a s m a d e b y the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r . Blair, M r s . Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Barrett, M r . E m m e r s o n , Mrs. Evans, M r s . Hopkins, M r . Williams. A t this point the Board recessed for luncheon. W h e n the Board reconvened for the afternoon session the s a m e m e m b e r s w h o were at the morning session were present; also the Treasurer of the Board, M r . H a z e n S. Capron, and the Supervising Architect of the University, Professor James M . White, were present.
