On motion of Doctor Noble, the Executive Committee voted to accept the proposal of the Lehigh Stone Company and to charge the cost of this paving construction, amounting to approximately $8,000, to the item of Campus Improvements in the Physical Plant Extension budget. MATTERS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. UNIVERSITY APPROPRIATION BILLS

(1) A report that certified copies of House Bill 652, appropriating State funds to the University for the biennium 1931-33, and Senate Bill 261, appropriating Federal funds to the University for the same biennium, which bills were passed by the Fifty-seventh General Assembly, have beenfiledwith the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. House Bill 652 A n Act making appropriations for the University of Illinois and providing for the expenditure thereof. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly: Section i. There is hereby appropriated to the University of Illinois for the two years beginning July I, 1931, and until the expiration of thefirstfiscalquarter after the adjournment of the next General Assembly, the sum of four million nine hundred and forty thousand dollars ($4,940,000) per annum, payable as follows: Out of the University of Illinois Fund, two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) per annum; out of the general revenue fund, two millionfivehundred forty thousand dollars ($2,540,000) per annum; for the following objects and purposes: For salaries and wages $3 675 000 per annum For office expenses, including printing and publications 150 000 per annum For travel 35 000 per annum For operation 500 000 per annum For repairs 165 000 per annum For equipment 315 000 per annum For permanent improvements 100 000 per annum Total $4 940 000 per annum Sec. 2. There is hereby appropriated to the University of Illinois for the two years beginning July 1, 1931, and until the expiration of the first fiscal quarter after the adjournment of the next General Assembly, the sum of one million four hundredthousand dollars, ($1,400,006) payable out of any funds in the State Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for permanent improvements and equipment as follows: Medical and Dental Laboratories and Equipment to be located on the grounds of the Research and Educational Hospital in Chicago $1 400 000 Sec. 3. The appropriations made in Sections 1 and 2 of this Act shall be subject to all the provisions, conditions, and limitations of an Act entitled, "An Act in relation to Statefinance,"approved June 10, 1919, in force July I, 1919. Sec. 4.
