To meet an urgent demand, the Trustees consented to> provide temporarily for teaching the preparatory studies lying between the work of the common school and that of the University. Candidates for these classes should not be less than fifteens years old. They must pass satisfactory examinations in Arithmetic, Geography, English Grammar, and History of the United States. The examination in these branches should b e equal to that usually required for a second grade certificate for teachers. This examination may be made by county superintendents. PREPARATORY STUDIES.
