MUSEUM AND COLLECTIONS.

The collections of mineral?., fossils, shells, birds, mammals, insects, plants, etc., have been made with much care and expense, and are steadily increasing. They ai'e notably large in some departments and afford valuable facilities in the Study of Natural History and Geology. The collection in Entomology is one of the largest in the West. One of the Trustees has lately presented to the University the full series of celebrated casts of fossils made by Prof. H. A. Ward of Rochester, N. Y. This collection embraces the most rare and valuable fossils of the British Museum and of otjier great European collections as well as those of President Hitchcock and others in America.

LIBRARY.

The Library, which has been carefully selected with reference to the scientific studies required in the several practical courses, includes now over 10,000 volumes. The large Library Hall is fitted up as a Reading-Room, and is open throughout the day for study, reading, and consultation of authorities. It is well provided with American, English, French, and German papers and periodicals, embracing some of the most important scientific and art publications.
