A P P R O P R I A T I O N F O R TILE R O O F S O N N E W DAIRY B A R N S (13) O n request of the Supervising Achitect I recommend that an appropriation of $7,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for tile roofs on the new Dairy Barns. O n motion of M r . Trees, this appropriation w a s made, by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r s , Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees, M r . W a r d ; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Ickes, M r . Small. THE NUTRITION INVESTIGATION (14) At the meeting of February 13, 1926, I called your attention to this investigation which had begun about twenty years before, and reported that a search of the records convinced me that the University had agreed to publish the results of this investigation infivevolumes together with a pamphlet summary. Volume 2 has never been published, and the Institute of American Meat Packers has raised with me the question whether the "University would publish this. I reported to you that I felt that we were bound to do this under the terms of the original understanding, and informed you that the completion and publication of this work might take as much as $10,000. O n June 12, 1926, I reported to you that two meetings of the Nutrition Commission had been held and that the Commission s i l recommended the tl publication of Volume 2. The manuscript is now ready and I request an appropriation of $5,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to publish this volume, in an edition of not more than 1,000 copies. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation w a s made, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, Mrs. Busey, M r s . Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees, Air. W a r d ; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Ickes, M r . Small. COMMERCIAL TESTS T h e President of the University w a s asked to consider and report on the matter of commercial tests. HONORARIUM FOR DEAN DANIELS AS ACTING DEAN OF T H E C O L L E G E O F LIBERAL A R T S A N D S C I E N C E S (15) Dean Daniels carried in addition to his own work the burden of the work of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences while the latter was absent from November to the end of the year. I recommend that an honorarium of $1,000 be granted him and request appropriation of that amount for that purpose from the Reserve and Contingent Fund. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this recommendation w a s adopted, and the appropriation w a s made, by the following vote: Aye, M r . A r m strong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r s . MITCHELL (16) Pursuant to the action of the Board of Trustees at the meeting on June 29 (Minutes, page 753) I authorized the Legal Counsel to consult with the attorneys for Mr. D. R. Mitchell, who hadfileda claim in the Court of Claims of Illinois for compensation for an accident which occurred 011 October 13, 1927, while he was engaged in his duties as Instructor in Mining Engineering, and advise them that the Board of Trustees would award compensation in accordance with the Workmen's Compensation Act. Mr. Mitchell's attorneys decided to dismiss the proceedings in the Court of Claims and to accept this
