Rose of the Department of Chemistry be given sick leave of absence beginning January 6, the period of absence to be at the discretion of the President of the University, Professor Rose has undergone an operation. QUARTERLY REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER QUARTER ENDED DECEMBER 31, 1929 SUMMARY Reserve and Contingent Fund The unappropriated balance of the Reserve and Contingent Fund (estimated excess of income of the year over appropriations) at the close of the quarter was $258,515, as per Schedule A. The balance at the corresponding date a year ago was $128,541. Budget Expenditures Board appropriations to departments for the current fiscal year total $6,265,339, including salaries $4,129,653, expense and equipment $2,135,686. These were 45.0% expended at the end of the quarter, and 2.5% encumbered. (Included in Schedule D ) . O n the corresponding date a year ago these appropriations were 45.2% expended and 2.6% encumbered.
