provements and would voluntarily accept its share of the assessment, on condition that if any other assessments for this project are reduced, the University's assessment will be correspondingly reduced. TELEPHONE PAY STATION IN LIBRARY BUILDING (28) A recommendation from the Supervising Architect that the Illinois Bell Telephone Company be permitted to install a pay station in the Library Building. I recommend approval of the following license granting the Illinois Bell Telephone Company this permission. Permission is hereby granted to the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, its successors and assigns, to construct, operate, and maintain a pay station in the University of Illinois Library Building, Urbana, Illinois, at a place to be designated by the Supervising Architect. This permission is granted with the understanding that the Illinois Bell Telephone Company will upon ten (10) days notice make such changes, alterations or removals of its property located and maintained, as above set out, as m a y be requested by the University of Illinois, and will indemnify and save harmless the owners of said property from any and all damages of the said property by reason of any negligence in the construction and maintenance of said company's equipment on the above property. TRANSFER OF PATENT RIGHTS IN CELLULOSE DIGESTION (29) A report from the Secretary of the Board that he has received from Brown, Jackson, Boettcher, & Dienner, Attorneys, the Assignment of Arthur M. Buswell and Clair S. Boruff transferring to the University all of their right, title, and interest in their application for United States Letters Patent Serial No. 386,080, covering an improvement in Cellulose Digestion,filedAugust 15, 1929, Case 1. (Process for the production of gas by the fermentation of cornstalks.) T h i s report w a s received for record.

(30) A letter from the Supervising Architect: October 24, 1929 President David Kinley, 335 Administration ( W ) My Dear President Kinley: The minutes of the Board of Trustees in their First Annual Report, page 147, dated October 18, 1867, contain the following entry: " M r Cunningham moved that permission be given to the road commissioners of Urbana township to lay out a road on the sojith side of the 160 acres known as the Model Farm. Referred to Committee on Farm." This 160 acres extends from the east and west line thru the center of Armory Avenue to the north line of the cemetery and from Lincoln Avenue to Fourth Street. The part of the 160 acres bordering the cemetery was bought in three parcels and all three abstracts describe the property purchased by the University as extending to the
