(35) A letter from Mr. E. D. Landwehr concerning a possible refund of fees paid by his son, who failed in his studies after a full year's attendance in the School of Pharmacy. T h e President read a letter which h e h a d written M r . L a n d w e h r explaining that n o refund could b e m a d e under the University rules a n d explaining w h y . O n motion of M r . Barr, the President of the University w a s instructed to inform M r . L a n d w e h r that the statement m a d e to h i m b y the President w a s in accordance with the rules a n d that n o refund of fees could b e m a d e in this case. ARCHITECTS FOR CHICAGO BUILDINGS (36) A statement concerning the employment of architects for the new buildings in Chicago. Mrs. Evans offered a motion that Schmidt, Garden, & Erikson be employed as architects for these buildings. Mrs. Busey offered a substitute motion that the matter be referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, for consideration and report at the next meeting. The substitute motion was adopted. LICENSE FOR KUNZ PHOTO-ELECTRIC CELL Mr. Fisher presented the following report: The committee appointed M a y 17, 1929, on the license of the Kunz photo-electric cell patent to DeForest Phonofilms, Inc., recommends that steps be taken to develop by correspondence the matter of a possible license to the clients of Knight Bros. subject to the license to DeForest Phonofilms, Inc. Walter T. Fisher George A. Barr O n motion of M r . Fisher, this report w a s adopted.

APPOINTMENTS MADE BY THE PRESIDENT The Secretary presented for record a l s of appointments made by it the President of the University.

Aaronson, Abe L., Assistant in Physiological Chemistry, in the Department of Physiology and Physiological Chemistry, in the College of Medicine, on one-eighth time, beginning June 1, 1929, and continuing until September i, 1930, without salary. (May 29, 1929)' Douglass, Oliver T., Assistant in Animal Pathology, in the Department of Animal Husbandry, in the Agricultural Experiment Station, on one-half time, for three months beginning June 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred dollars ($ioo) a month. (May 14, 1929) Hanson, Leona Josephine, Switchboard Operator and Clerk, in the Purchasing Office, in the Chicago Departments, for four months beginning M a y 1, 1929, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation at the rate of ninety dollars ($90) a month. (May 14, 1929) Hecht, Rudolph, Technician in Chemistry, in the Department of Pediatrics, in the College of Medicine, for three months beginning June 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred dollars ($100) a month. (June 6, 1929) Huffman, Grace, Stenographer in the Order Department of the Library, beginning June 15, and continuing until August 31, 1929, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commission, at a cash compensation at the rate of eighty dollars (?8o) a month. (June 5, 1929) Kraines, Samuel H., Hospital Serologist in the Hospital Laboratory, in the College of Medicine, for three months beginning June 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) a month.
