There remains a balance of $1,120.41 in this fund, due to the fact that three of the four manuscripts were withdrawn from publication after further consideration. Dean Mumford recommends that the balance be reappropriated for the publication of two manuscripts, viz., 1. A Comparision of the Transpiration Rates of Twenty-One Deciduous Fruit Species, by V. W . Kelley, estimated at $300. 2. Inheritance in Lettuce, by C. E. Durst, estimated at $725. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of M r . HOUSES (12) I request an appopriation of $1,000 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the building of small animal houses in connection with the work of our Laboratory of Animal Pathology, the expenditure to be made after further conferences and satisfactory conclusion of the discussion. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this appropriation w a s m a d e , b y the following vote: A y e , President Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r . Fisher, M r s . Grigsby, D r . THE ALUMNI DIRECTORY (13) The Comptroller estimates that the cost of the Alumni Directory from now on will aggregate something over $14,000. To meet it there is at present a balance of $11,880, so that an appropriation of approximately $2,400 will be necessary. There will be receipts from sales probably running up to ?io,ooo i not more. f In view of the above facts I recommend that an appropriation of $2,400, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to be added to the present balance for the expense of publishing the Alumni Directory.
