D I R E C T O R S O F T H E A T H L E T I C ASSOCIATION (4) A recommendation that the following be appointed directors of the Athletic Association to serve until March, 1930. Mr. George A. Huff, Champaign Judge 0. A. Harker, Champaign Mr. A. R. Hall, Danville Professor F. A. Russell, Urbana Mr. J. P. Kratz, Monticello O n motion of M r s . Evans, these directors were appointed. APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY (5) Owing to the increase in the number of advanced students in Chemistry, the appropriation for expenses has proved inadequate, and Professor Adams is asking an additional appropriation. I, therefore, recommend an appropriation of ¥4,000 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for general supplies for the Chemistry Department. On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, President Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r . Fisher, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, M r . Emmerson, Dr. Noble. APPROPRIATION FOR BENEFICIARY OF W. F. KAISER (6) W. F. Kaiser, Storekeeper in the Physical Plant, died April 2, 1929. The death benefit which accrued in his case amounts to $864. I recommend that this amount be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund and that the Comptroller be authorized to make payment to his beneficiary. O n motion of Mr. Trees, this recommendation was approved, by the following vote: Aye, President Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r . Fisher, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Simpson, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, M r . Emmerson, Dr. Noble. APPROPRIATION FOR ARCHEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS (7) I recommend that an appropriation of $600, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to meet the expenses of closing up present work on account of the Indian archeological explorations. O n motion of Mr. Barr, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, President Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Fisher, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Simpson, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Dr. Noble. APPROPRIATION FOR JOURNAL OF ENGLISH AND GERMANIC PHILOLOGY (8) At the request of Dean Daniels of the Graduate School, I recommend that an appropriation o $600 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the Journal f of English and Germanic Philology to supplement the funds provided in the 1928-29 budget for the expense of printing for the year. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, President Armstrong, M r . Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Fisher, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Simpson, Mr. Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Dr. Noble. PURCHASE AND FRAMI NG OF PICTURES AND PORTRAITS FOR COLLEGE O F MEDICINE (9) Dean Davis requests permission to use $200 from the Contingent Fund of the College of Medicine for the purchase and framing of pictures and portraits of noted physicians and scientists, to be hung in the Research Laboratory and Library. The Medical Library now has a collection of about forty-five photographs which could be framed at a cost of Ji each, but it is desirable to purchase others to supplement this collection. I recommend that this expenditure be authorized. O n motion of M r . Barr, this expenditure w a s authorized.
