I42 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [March 12 MR. J. W. A R M S T R O N G ELECTED PRESIDENT O F T H E B O A R D Governor Emmerson, who was asked to act as Chairman, called for nominations for the office of President of the Board of Trustees for one year. Mrs. Evans nominated Mr. J. W . Armstrong. O n motion of M r . Trees, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary was instructed to cast the unanimous ballot of the meeting for Mr. Armstrong as President. M r . Armstrong was declared elected, and he took the chair. MR. H. E. C U N N I N G H A M ELECTED SECRETARY Mrs. Grigsby nominated M r . H. E. Cunningham for the office of Secretary of the Board for one year. O n motion of Mr. Blair, the nominations were closed, and the President of the Board cast the ballot of the meeting for Mr. Cunningham, and he was declared elected Secretary. MR. A. M. B U R K E ELECTED TREASURER Dr. Noble nominated Mr. A. M . Burke of Champaign to succeed himself as Treasurer of the University for a term of two years. O n motion of Dr. Noble, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary cast the ballot of the meeting for Mr. Burke, and he was declared elected Treasurer.1 PROFESSOR LLOYD M O R E Y ELECTED C O M P T R O L L E R Mrs. Busey nominated Professor Lloyd Morey for the office of Comptroller for one year. O n motion of Mr. Blair, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary was instructed to cast the ballot of the meeting for Professor Morey, and he was declared elected. EXECUTIVE C O M M I T T E E Dr. Noble nominated Mrs. Busey and Mr. Trees to serve for one year as members of the Executive Committee, with the President of the Board as Chairman. Mrs. Busey asked to be excused from this service, and Dr. Noble nominated Mrs. Grigsby instead. O n motion of Dr. Noble, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary of the Board cast the ballot of the meeting for Mr. Trees and Mrs. Grigsby, and they were declared elected members of the Executive Committee. DR. DAVID KINLEY ELECTED PRESIDENT Mr. Blair nominated Dr. David Kinley to serve as President of the University at the pleasure of the Board, under the new law. O n motion of M r . Trees, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary cast the unanimous ballot of the Board for Dr. Kinley, and he was declared elected President of the University. The Secretary was directed to notify Dr. Kinley of his election and to escort him to the room. Dr. Kinley briefly expressed his appreciation of the confidence of the Board in him. 'See page 143.
