APPROPRIATION FOR BENEFICIARY OF MISS MARION SPARKS (j) Miss Marion Sparks, on the Library Staff since 1904, and Librarian in the Chemistry Library since 1912, died on February 11. I recommend that an appropriation of $1,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to pay the death benefit due, and that the Comptroller be authorized to make payment to Miss Sparks's beneficiary. PAYMENT FOR SERVICES OF A. R. HALL IN SETTLEMENT OF JOSEPH CARTER ESTATE

(7) I recommend the payment of a fee of $500 from the Carter-Pennell Trust Fund to Mr. A. R. Hall of thefirmof Hall & Holaday, Danville, for services which he rendered after the creation of the Carter-Pennell Trust and before thefinalsettlement of the estate of Joseph Carter. Philbrick, who is on leave of absence without salary and who is visiting professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania, has submitted his resignation to take effect at the end of the academic year. Dean Harno recommends, and I concur, that this resignation be accepted. O n motion of M r . Simpson, this resignation w a s accepted. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR M. I. SCHNEBLY (9) On recommendation of Dean Harno, I recommend that Professor Merrill I . Schnebly, at present visiting professor of law on our staff, be appointed professor on indefinite tenure, effective September 1, 1929, at a salary of $7,000 a year. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this appointment w a s m a d e .
