R E M O V A L A N D RESETTING O F B O O K S T A C K S (15) Professor White estimates that the expense of removing bookstacks from the old part of the present Library and resetting in the New Library and removing the bookstacks from the south stack in the present Library and resetting in the New Library will be about $12,000. At his request, I recommend that the Bum of $12,000 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. O n motion of M r s . FINISHING UP SOUTH ADDITION OF OLD LIBRARY (16) The removal of the Library leaves the south addition, from which stacks will be removed, unusable until its interior isfinished,newfloorsare put in, and partitions erected subdividing the large space into offices and class rooms. The expense of this will be $25,000, as estimated by the Supervising Architect, and in accordance with his request I recommend that an appropriation of $25,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for that purpose. FITTING UP LECTURE ROOM IN OLD LIBRARY (17) Thefittingup of a general lecture room to seat 250, with tablet arm chairs and with a stepped floor on the secondfloorof the old Library, is a great need and is strongly recommended by the Supervising Architect. He asks an appropriation of $3000 and I recommend that this appropriation be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. O n motion of M r s . WIRING AND OTHER CHANGES IN THE OLD LIBRARY

(18) Tofitthe old Library for use in part by the College of Law it is necessary to make certain structural, wiring, and lighting changes. The Supervising Architect requests an appropriation of $3000 and I recommend that the appropriation be made for this purpose, from the Reserve and Contingent Fund. O n motion of M r s . STREET PAVEMENTS. WALKS. AND STORM WATER SEWER

(10) In view of the opportunity offered the University to cooperate with the Athletic Association in putting in walks and pavements in the neighborhood of the Stadium as well as the Florida Avenue storm water sewer, thereby securing a lower price for its share of the expense, provided the project is paid for in cash at once on completion of the work, I recommend that the sum of $22,000 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for these improvements as described in the minutes of the May meeting, page 601.
