A P P O I N T M E N T OF M R . H. W . H O L T (4) Pursuant to the authority given me at the March meeting of the Board, I have appointed Mr. Harold W . Holt of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Associate Professor of Law fof two years from September I next at an annual salary of $4,500. This report was received for record. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR WALTER J. GRAHAM (5) On recommendation of a Committee of members of the English Department which I appointed to advise me with reference to the appointment of a professor of English, I recommend that Dr. Walter James Graham, Professor of English at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, be appointed Professor of English and Head of the Department on indefinite tenure at an annual salary of $7,000 beginning September I, 1928. O n motion of M r . Trees, this appointment was made. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR HERBERT WOODROW (6) I recommend that Dr. Herbert Woodrow, Professor of Psychology at the University of Oklahoma, be appointed Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology on indefinite tenure at an annual salary of $5,000 beginning September I, 1928. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, this appointment was made. APPOINTMENT OF DR. L. F. AUDR1ETH AS ASSOCIATE IN C H E M I S T R Y (7) On recommendation of Dean A. H. Daniels and Professor Roger Adams, I recommend that Dr. L. F. Audrieth of Ithaca, New York, be appointed Associate in Chemistry at a salary of $2400 for one year beginning September 1, 1928. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, this appointment was made. LEAVE OF ABSENCE OF PROFESSOR IVAN WRIGHT CANCELLED (8) Professor Ivan Wright, who was given a sabbatical leave of absence for 1928-29 on February 14, 1928 (page 544), has asked that his leave be cancelled because circumstances, over which he had no control and which have developed since he asked for his leave, have made i impossible for him to t carry out his plans. Dean Thompson and Professor Bogart recommend that his request be granted. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of Mrs. Grigsby, this request was granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR COLONEL MERRY (9) I recommend that Colonel W . T. Merry, Professor of Military Science and Tactics, be given leave of absence for one month from April 11, 1928, to enable him to be with Mrs. Merry who is in the Southwest on account of her health. O n motion of M r . Barr, this leave was granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DR. R. D. GLASGOW, ASSOCIATE IN E N T O M O L O G Y (10) I request authority to permit Dr. Glasgow to be absent without pay during the month of April, 1928. O n motion of Mrs. Ickes, this authority was granted.
