PROMOTION O F PROFESSOR T. W . BALDWIN (19) I recommend that Associate Professor Thomas W . Baldwin of the Department of English be promoted to a f l professorship on i d f n t ul neiie tenure at an annual salary of $5,000 a year, beginning September 1, 1928. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this appointment was made. SABBATICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR LOUISE FREER (20) Professor Louise Freer, Director of Physical Education for Women, requests, with the approval of Director Huff, a sabbatical leave of absence, on one-half pay, for the second semester, 1928-29. Although our rules do not provide for half-year sabbatical leaves, this case is so peculiar that I recommend approval of the request. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this leave w a s granted. SABBATICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR ASSOCIATE P R O F E S S O R IVAN W R I G H T (21) O n recommendation of Professor Bogart and Dean Thompson, I recommend that Associate Professor Ivan Wright of the Department of Economics, be given a sabbatical leave of absence on one-half salary during the year 1928-29, under the rules. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR W. P. SANDFORD (22) O n recommendation of Professor Bernbaum and Acting Dean Daniels, I recommend that Assistant Professor W . P. Sandford, who is in charge of the work in public speaking, be given leave of absence for one year beginning September 1, 1928, without salary, to enable him to complete his work for the doctor's degree. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MISS OLIVE C. HAZLETT (23) O n recommendation of Professor Townsend and Acting Dean Daniels, I recommend that Miss Olive C. Hazlett, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, be given leave of absence without salary for one year beginning September 1 next for the purpose of foreign study and travel. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR WALTER S. MONROE (24) O n recommendation of Dean Chadsey, I recommend that Professor Walter S. Monroe, Director of the Bureau of Educational Research, be given leave of absence without salary for four months beginning January 1, 1929. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DR. ETHEL E. LITTLE (25) O n recommendation of Dr. Beard and Director Huff, I recommend that Dr. Ethel E. Little, Medical Adviser for W o m e n , be given leave of absence, on account of illness, without salary, from February I to July 1, 1928. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this leave w a s granted.
