APPROPRIATION FOR STREET LIGHTING (16) The Supervising Architect reports that i is desirable to extend the t street lighting on Fourth and First Streets to Florida Avenue and along the south drive between First and Fourth Streets, this work to be done by the City of Champaign and to be paid for by the University on the basis of a special assessment, at an estimated cost of $6,000, and he requests an appropriation for this purpose. The Athletic Association has agreed to pay onehalf of the cost of this improvement and the Board of Directors have assigned $3,000 for this purpose. I recommend that an appropriation of $3,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. O n motion of M r s . Evans, an appropriation of $3,000 for this purpose w a s m a d e from the Reserve and Contingent Fund, by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r . Blair, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Small, M r . W a r d . APPOINTMENT OF DEAN DANIELS AS ACTING DEAN OF THE C O L L E G E O F LIBERAL A R T S A N D S C I E N C E S AND PROVOST (17) I recommend that Dean Arthur H. Daniels of the Graduate School be appointed Acting Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Provost during the absence of Dean and Provost Babcock. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this appointment w a s made. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MISS ADAH PATTON (18) At her request, approved by Director Windsor, I recommend that Miss Adah Patton, lecturer in the Library School and cataloguer in the Library, be permitted to be absent from March 15 to September 1, 1928, for the purpose of study and travel abroad, thefirstmonth of her absence to be on full salary in lieu of her summer vacation and the remainder of her absence to be without salary. O n motion of M r . Barr, this leave w a s granted.
