CUSTODIANSHIP OF FUNDS FOR EXPENSES O F STUDENTS O n motion of Mr. Barr, the following resolution was adopted: W H E R E A S , individuals occasionally write to University officers asking them to act as custodians of money to meet the expense of some student or students, and W H E R E A S , the Board of Trustees disapproves the performance of such services by University officers as such,

N O W , T H E R E F O R E , B E IT R E S O L V E D that the Board

of Trustees forbids any officer of the University to receive, as custodian, in his capacity as an officer of the University, any money intended to meet the expenses of any student. While the Board cannot forbid any m e m b e r of the staff to act as guardian or custodian of funds for the expenses of a student or students, it does forbid any m e m b e r of the University staff from accepting checks m a d e out to the University of Illinois, or to any officer of the University of Illinois, and sent as a fund from which to draw in order to meet the expenses of any student or students; or to endorse the same if m a d e out as aforesaid. R E D U C T I O N O F INCIDENTAL F E E S F O R S T U D E N T S E N T E R I N G T H E LAST HALF O F A SEMESTER (11) I recommend that a student who enters the University in any of the departments at Urbana-Champaign for the last half of a semester be charged one-half the amount of the regular incidental fees but that the full matriculation and laboratory fees be required. O n motion of M r . Barr, this recommendation was adopted. GIFT O F D R . J A M E S B R O W N S C O T T (12) Dr. and Mrs. James Brown Scott of Washington, D. C , have presented the University with thirty-one portraits, mezzotints, stipples, and line engravings of famous characters in the legal profession. The presentation was made on the occasion of the dedication of the old Library Building as the College of Law and the engravings have been hung in that building. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, this report was received for record, and the President of the University was directed to send an expression of the thanks of the Board to Dr. and Mrs. Scott. R E P O R T O F SALE O F H O U S E S (13) The following report from the Supervising Architect and the Comptroller on the sale of houses on Arbor Street and South Goodwin Avenue: October 11, 1927.
