I have accepted the option for the University and recommend the purchase of this land at the price of $350 per acre, and recommend further that an appropriation of $75,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for this purpose. APPROPRIATION FOR MEDICAL LIBRARY (6) I recommend that an appropriation of four thousand dollars be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the Library of the College of Medicine for the purchase of journals and books. APPROPRIATION FOR PURCHASE OF DENTAL BUILDING BONDS (7) I recommend that an appropriation of $1,532.25 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purchase of $1,500 of bonds of the College of Physicians and Surgeons on the Dental Building, due in 1932, at par and accrued interest. I authorized the Comptroller to purchase them when they were offered for sale to the University. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, M r . APPROPRIATION FOR INSURANCE (8) On request of the Comptroller I recommend that an appropriation of one hundred dollars be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to cover premiums on insurance on Chicago buildings expiring during the presentfiscalyear, including the premium on the policies renewed on the Pharmacy Building on November 2, 1927. McClure, of the Department of Philosophy, be given sabbatical leave of absence on one-half pay during the year 1928-29, under the rules. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, this leave was granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR D. H. CARNAHAN (10) On recommendation of Dean Babcock, I recommend that Professor David H. Caniahan, of the Department of Romance Languages, be given sabbatical leave of absence on one-half pay during the year 1928-29, under the rules. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, this leave was granted.
