T A B L E S F O R T H I R D UNIT O F T H E N E W L I B R A R Y (9) A recommendation that the Supervising Architect be authorized to purchase twenty-one tables for the third unit of the new library building from C. A. Kiler of Champaign at a quoted price of $150 each, delivered and installed. O n motion of M r . Barr, this purchase w a s authorized. CHAIRS FOR THIRD UNIT OF THE NEW LIBRARY (10) A recommendation that the Supervising Architect be authorized to purchase 232 chairs for the third unit of the new library building from Bailey & Himes of Champaign at a quoted price of £2,552. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this purchase w a s authorized. FINISHING OF EAST HALL OF STADIUM (11) The Athletic Association wishes tofinishthe East Great Hall of the Stadium to make i available for intramural sports, particularly basketball. The Supervising t Architect reports that this will make one huge room 50 feet wide, 412 feet long, and 28 feet high. It will be necessary to put in a partition along the West side, a ceiling, afloor,and to provide the necessary heating and lighting. The Supervising Architect estimates that the cost of these items will be as follows: Floor #15 000 Wall II 500 Ceiling 6 000 Lighting 3 500 Heating 12 000 Total $48 000 He recommends that the Athletic Association be given permission to proceed with this improvement, and I concur provided that before work is begun the Athletic Association appropriate the $50,000 necessary for the purpose and that the work be under the supervision of the Supervising Architect. O n motion of M r . Barr, this recommendation w a s adopted.

RAZING OF THE SOUTH UNIT OF THE OLD HOSPITAL

(12) The Supervising Architect recommends that the south unit of the old hospital building be razed. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this recommendation w a s concurred in. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT FOR UNIVERSITY PRESS (13) On request of the Director of the University Press, I recommend that an appropriation of $6,250 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the University Press for an Intertype type-setting machine to replace one of the old Linotypes now in use.
