in several volumes, and the list price of the set is about $1,450. While many of are in the library, nevertheless the gift is an exceedingly valuable one, especially to all of our students engaged in studies relating generally to thefieldof Spanish America in History and Affairs. In each case I have written a letter acknowledging receipt of the material and thanking the donor, but owing to the unusual value of these gifts, the Board may wish to take more formal action accepting them. This report was received for record.

INSURANCE ON COOK COUNTY EXPERIMENT STATION PROPERTY

(25) The Agricultural Experiment Station requests thatfireand tornado insurance be carried on the buildings at. the Cook County Experiment Station. The Comptroller submits the following proposals for $9,000 insurance (80% of the valuation) for three years which he has secured from reputable agencies in Des Plainest Des Plaines Realty Company, $2.10 per $100, total $189.00. W . L. Plew and Company, $3.45 per $100, total $310.50. I recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to place this insurance with the Des Plaines Realty Company at the rate stated, the expense to be paid from the budget of the Cook County Experiment Station. O n motion of D r . Noble, this recommendation was approved.

(26) A statement concerning a request for an appropriation of £1,000 for the Alumni News. Action on this matter was deferred. APPROPRIATION FOR PHYSICAL PLANT OPERATION A N D MAINTENANCE (27) A recommendation that an appropriation of $4,73341 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to the Physical Plant Operating Budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1927, to take care of a deficit caused mainly by the assignment of the Board (made at the last meeting) of funds to offset the charge for heat and light service for the McK-inley Hospital. This Budget w a s received for record and the President of the University w a s requested to send copies to the m e m b e r s of the Board.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MISS HAZEL SHAW AND MISS ADAH PATTON

(29) On recommendation of Director P. L. Windsor, of the Library, I recommend that Miss Hazel Shaw, Library Assistant in Economics and Sociology, and Miss Adah Patton, Catalog Librarian and Lecturer in the Library, each be given one month's leave of absence with full pay, on account of illness. O n motion of M r s . Evans, these leaves were granted.

CONTRACT FOR R. O. T. C. UNIFORMS

(30) A recommendation that the Comptroller be authorized to execute a contract with DeMoulin Brothers and Company for uniforms for students in the advanced R. 0. T. C. course, at a price of $29.55 per uniform. O n motion of M r . Barr, this contract w a s authorized.
