GIFT FROM THE HORSE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (23) The Horse Association of America, through its Secretary, Mr. Wayne Dinsmore, has offered the University the sum of £540 to be used in paying for the services of a half-time laboratory assistant for the year 1927-28, to enable Professor Elmer Roberts to expedite an investigation which is being conducted by the Division of Animal Breeding on the effect of Fowler's solution on the breeding of animals. T h i s report w a s received for record. GIFTS TO THE LIBRARY (24) Professor P. L. Windsor, Librarian, reports receipt of the following gifts of books to the Library: Professor Frank Smith, on preparing to leave Urbana, has presented the University library with 226 bound volumes, 4,130 pamphlets, leaflets, and unbound pieces, and 4,000 local weather maps. While m a n y of these are already in the library, nevertheless some are not, and those that are duplicates will, in some cases, be very useful. M r s . C . M . M o s s has presented to the University library 293 bound volumes and 41 unbound volumes and pamphlets chiefly relating to the Classics. M o s t of these are duplicates, but m a n y oif them will be useful. T h e President and Trustees of the Hispanic Society of America, 156th Street W e s t of Broadway, N e w York City, have presented to the University library a set Approved by Board of Society.
