On motion of Mrs. Evans, this purchase was authorized at a maximum price of $33,300, as of July 1, 1927, the sorority to be given occupancy to July 1, 1928, and to be responsible for repairs and maintenance; settlement to be made before July 1, 1927. PRESIDENT'S AUTOMOBILE O n request of the special committee, Professor White reported on the matter of an automobile for the use of the President of the University. It was voted to authorize the purchase of a Cadillac custom built suburban model, the cost to come within the appropriation. FIRE APPARATUS A request was presented from officials of the cities of Champaign and Urbana. Champaign-Urbana, Illinois To the Board of Trustees, University of Illinois W e the undersigned Officials of the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, do respectfully recommend to your Honorable Body, in session, that some action towards providing a Pumper Fire Truck for the University's needs. Several demonstrations have come to light, more recently at the University Military Stable Fire at the south end of the Campus, that it is necessary to have Pumpers connected with the University Fire Mains, to successfully provide effective Fire Streams. The Twin Cities are and will always co-operate with the University in regard to their Fire Protection, but in as much as no provision has been made by the University Authorities to increase the efficiency of the Fire Service, by the procuring a Pumper Fire Truck, this communication is presented for your consideration. TIME OF JANUARY MEETING It was voted to hold the January meeting at the Blackstone Hotel, in Chicago, on Wednesday, January 12, 1927. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY THE PROVOST The Secretary presented for record a l s of appointments made by the it Provost of the University. Bengtson, B. N., Resident in Neurology and Psychiatry, in the College of Medicine, on one-half time, for eight months beginning November 1, 1926, at a cash compensation of two hundred dollars ($200). (November 22, 1926)1 Black, Dorothy M., Student Assistant in the Reference Department of the Library, on one-half time, beginning November 20, 1926, and continuing until August 31, 1927, at a cash compensation at the rate offifty-eightand one-third dollars ($58.33) a month. (December 6, 1926) •The date in parenthesis is the date on which the appointment was made by the Provost.
