board of trustees

[September 22

Noyes and his heads of departments are working on the estimate of equipment loss. The plan now is to meet the adjusters tomorrow morning to make a final adjustment of our claims. Mr. Stevenson represents Mr. Brundage and will be our chief counsellor in supporting our claims against the companies. Some one must have authority to represent the University in this settlement. A m I authorized to do so? I do not anticipate any trouble in reaching a settlement. If we conclude a settlement, then we can immediately put men at work, representing all trades, and I believe it will be possible to have the building in shape for occupancy in ten days, with the exception of the children's clinic. The Anatomy department was not interfered with at all, and the Infirmary requires only a patch on the ceiling and some repairs to equipment damaged by falling glass. It does not even require redecorating. Yours truly,

James M. White
