GRADUATE WORK IN LIBRARY SCIENCE (2) A correction in the recommendation made at the July meeting (page 9) concerning degrees and graduate work in Library Science: Recommendations from the faculty of the Library School and the Executive Faculty of the Graduate School, approved by the Council of Administration acting for the Senate, should read as follows— That the degree of Bachelor of Science in Library Science be given on comEletion of thefirstyear of the Library Science course, and the Master's degree in ibrary Science on completion of the second year of the course; the admission requirements to remain as they are now. Students who at any previous time have completed thefirstyear's work in Library Science either in our own Library School or any other of equal grade, may become cahdidates for the Master's degree under this arrangement. These changes to be effective from the beginning of the academic year 1926-17. O n motion of M r s . Busey, the action of July 7, 1926, page 9, relating to this matter was reconsidered and rescinded. O n motion of M r s . Busey, the n e w recommendation was adopted. BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL (3) A request for a hearing of representatives of the Champaign Building Trades Council. T h e hearing was granted, and M r . J. M.Vinson, M r J. C. A d a m s , and M r . H . F. Wittig were introduced. M r . Vinson acted as spokesm a n and stated that union m e n could not work on construction jobs where contracts are awarded to the Reliable Heating and Plumbing C o m p a n y or to other non-union firms, and that trouble would be avoided if no more contracts were awarded to this firm. N o action was taken on this matter. PAVING OF PHARMACY BUILDING ALLEY (4) I recommend that $1,816 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for an assessment for paving the alley behind the Pharmacy Buildings. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, Mrs. Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees, M r . W h a m ; no, none; absent, M r . Barr, M r . Blair, M r . Small. SIDEWALK ALONG CARTER PROPERTY (5) I recommend that $150 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purpose of constructing a cement sidewalk along the property in the city of Normal, Illinois, which was bequeathed to the University by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carter, with the understanding that the fund be reimbursed either from the income, or from funds which may be received from the sale of the property. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this appropriation was m a d e , by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, Dr. Noble, M r . PURCHASE OF LOTS 33 AND 62 IN COLLEGE PLACE (6) The Superintendent of Business Operations recommends the purchase of the following properties in College Place: 1. Lot 23 (S° x 114 feet, owned by C. S. Dale) for $3,000, clear of all encumbrances and special assessments, except taxes now levied, amounting to about $16.
