BOARD OF TRUSTEES

appropriation of #100, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to meet these expenses of papering, repair of screens, and similar minor matters, the amount to be credited back from rent received.

RESOLUTION

W H E R E A S , Joseph Carter and Jane P. Carter, husband and wife, on March 12th, A. D. 1923, by Warranty Deed, conveyed to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and to their successors in office, approximately Three Hundred Fifty acres of valuable land, to be held in trust for educational purposes under the name of 'The Carter-Pennell Trust"; and W T i E R E A S , Said Joseph Carter and said Jane Pennell Carter, both now deceased, by their Joint and Several Last Will, gave, bequeathed and devised, after the payment of their just debts and funeral expenses and one legacy of Five Thousand Dollars ($5000), all the rest, residue, and the remainder of their property of every kind and character to said Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and to their successors in office, as Trustees, for the educational uses and purposes set forth in said above mentioned Deed, and provided that said property should be added to and be made a part of said "The Carter-Pennell Trust" and be impressed with the Trust therein created; and W H E R E A S , Said Decedents left some books, wearing apparel, and household goods which are of little actual cash value but which are technically a part of the aforesaid remaining property; and W H E R E A S , Said Joseph Carter, who became, at the death of his wife, the sole owner of said property, expressed the wish that these few personal effects should be distributed among certain near relatives of said Decedents, and indicated, informally, to w h o m the respective articles should go; therefore be it R E S O L F E D , B y the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, that this Board does hereby waive and renounce any and all claim and interest in or to the books, wearing apparel, and household goods which belonged to said Joseph Carter and said Jane Pennell Carter, and that Albert H. Barber, Executor of the Estate of Joseph Carter, deceased, be and such Executor is hereby, authorized and empowered to carry out said wish of said Joseph Carter, and, without accounting to this Board therefor, to distribute such personal effects among said near relatives of said Decedents, in accordance with said directions of said Joseph Carter. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this resolution w a s adopted.

RESOLUTION

W H E R E A S , Under the terms of the Joint and Several Last Will of Joseph Carter and Jane Pcnnell Carter, husband and wife, both now deceased, the title to their former home at No. 609 S. Fell Avenue, in the City of Normal, in McLean County, Illinois, seems now to be vested in the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois; and W H E R E A S , Albert H . Barber, Executor, by the terms of said Will, of the Estate of Joseph Carter, deceased, would like to be relieved from any responsibility, so far as their real estate is concerned, just as soon as he can pay the taxes thereon and make a distribution of the personal effects now in said home; therefore be it R E S O L F E D , B y the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, that Lloyd Morey be, and he is hereby, authorized, empowered, and directed to take charge of said premises and to rent said premises, during the period of the administration of said Estate, or to sell said premises, i an offer, satisfactory to this f Board, should be made therefor.
