P R O M O T I O N O F DR. H. N. H I L L E B R A N D (10) A recommendation that Dr. H. N. Hillebrand be made Associate Professor of English for two years beginning September i, 1925, at a salary of $4000 a year. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Grigsby this r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s concurred in. A B S E N C E O F P R O F E S S O R B. S. H O P K I N S (11) Dean Babcock recommends that Professor B. S. Hopkins of the Department of Chemistry be permitted to be absent from April 1 to April 30 for the purpose of studying the methods of teaching elementary chemistry at a number of eastern universities at University expense. The Easter recess falls in that period, and thereby he will miss only a little over three weeks of instructional work, which will be taken care of by his colleagues in his absence. I concur in this recommendation with the understanding that no traveling expenses be allowed for attendance at any scientific meetings which Professor Hopkins m a y include in his itinerary. Wilson O n motion of Mrs. Ickes, these certificates were awarded. REPAIR OF AUDITORIUM PIERS (13) The Assistant Supervising Architect, Mr. George E. Wright, reports that the work of reinforcing the piers in the basement of the Auditorium has been completed at a total cost of $1,974.32. The appropriation made by the Board for this purpose at the February meeting was $2,000. This report w a s received for record.

(14) O n February 12, a notice was received from the Central Illinois Public Service Company, whose stock to the amount of three shares we hold as a trust fund investment, enclosing a proxy to be executed for the annual meeting held February 25, 192J.
