On motion of Mr. Armstrong, this report was received for record, and the Comptroller was authorized to renew these leases whenever it may be necesssary.

CAHOKIA MOUNDS EXPLORATION

{36) As you are aware, the University has conducted for the past two or three years certain explorations of the Cahokia Mounds. The owners of the principal mound, known as Monks Mound, are now unwilling to have further explorations made. *The8sMoorehead, whorenewed, asouris expected that the houses will m esold during the summer. I recommend that an appropriation be made from the Reserve and Contingent fund of Jiioo, or so much thereof as may be needed for the purpose of rounding ou t our present explorations of the Cahokia Mounds,—$250 of this amount to be an honorariumforDr. Moorehead. On motion of Mr. Armstrong, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Trimble; no none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Blake, Mr. Small.
