To satisfy code requirements while preserving the essential architectural integrity of the building's interior space, each stair tower must be gutted, reconfigured, and enclosed. Concurrent with this project, the men's restroom on the north lower level is to be relocated, facilitating construction of the northwest interior stair tower. Also included in the project is the installation of a sprinkler system in the basement and on the first floor of the north and south buildings. Funds are available from the proceeds of the Auxiliary Facilities System Series 1993 Revenue Bond issue. A schedule of the bids received has been filed with the secretary of the board for record.
