160 BOARD OF TRUSTEES (January 20 Purchases (21) The president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. The purchases were presented in one category — purchases from institutional funds. The term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. The total amount of these purchases from institutional funds was $7,782,314. A complete list of the purchases, with supporting information (including the quotations received), was sent to each member of the board in advance of the meeting. A copy is being filed with the secretary of the board for record. On motion of Ms. Reese, the purchases recommended were authorized by the following vote: Aye, Mrs. Calder, Mr. Engelbrecht, Dr. Gindorf, Mrs. Gravenhorst, Mr. Lamont, Ms. Lopez, Mrs. O'Malley, Ms. Reese; no, none; absent, Dr. Bacon, Governor Edgar. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Mr. Didato-Castillo, Mr. Rose; no, none.) SECRETARY'S REPORT The secretary presented for record appointments to the faculty and changes of status made by the president, resignations, terminations, and retirements. A copy of the report is filed with the secretary. DEGREES CONFERRED The secretary presented for record the following list of degrees conferred on candidates at the Urbana-Champaign campus on January 15, 1995.
