The proposed $325,000 project consists of remodeling existing classrooms in a building constructed in 1940. Classrooms to be included in the interior remodeling are Rooms 205, 207, 213, 305, and 307. Work will include: new vinyl composition tile flooring; gypsum board soffit construction on metal framing; suspended acoustical tile ceiling; refinishing of wooden doors, windows, and trimwork; new chalkboards, tackboard surfaces, lighting fixtures and receptacles; modification of ventilating system distribution; and changes to steam-heat radiators and controls. Funds are available from State appropriated funds in the operating budget of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the Urbana campus. A schedule of the bids received and a description of the alternate have been filed with the secretary of the board for record.

On motion of Ms. Reese, these contracts were awarded by the following vote: Aye, Mrs. Calder, Mr. Engelbrecht, Dr. Gindorf, Mrs. Gravenhorst, Mr. Lamont, Ms. Lopez, Mrs. O'Malley, Ms. Reese; no, none; absent, Dr. Bacon, Governor Edgar. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Mr. Didato-Castillo, Mr. Rose; no, none.)

Employment of Architects/Engineers, Capital Development Board Projects, Chicago and Urbana

(16) The president of the University, with the concurrence of the appropriate administrative officers, recommends that the Board of Trustees request the Capital Development Board to employ architects and engineers as indicated below for capital projects for Fiscal Year 1995 at the Chicago and Urbana campuses. The professional fee for each firm employed will be negotiated by the Capital Development Board in accordance with its procedure. Funds for the employment of the professional firms have been appropriated to the Capital Development Board for FY 1995.
