F E E S I N SCHOOL, O F M U S I C The following recommendations: 1. That a special fee of $25.00 a semester be charged for instruction in applied music required for a degree of all students matriculated in the School of Music, beginning September 1, 1922. 2. That a special fee of $25.00 a semester be charged for one half-hour lesson a week in applied music through the semester, of all students who are not matriculated in the School of Music, beginning September 1, 1922.

On motion of Mrs. Blake, these fees were approved.

ENTRANCE DEFICIENCIES (4) The University Senate recommends that beginning September 1, 1923, each student must meet in full the requirements for admission to the curriculum in which he desires to enroll, with the exception that the present practise of admission with a deficiency in laboratory science be continued. It further recommends that beginning at the same date an applicant for admission be allowed to count toward the required 15 units as many as five units in commercial and vocational subjects (the present maximum is 3 units) with the provision that the units presented in such subjects in excess of three shall be considered an entrance deficiency to be removed by the presentation of additional work in the usual academic subjects (language, mathematics, social sciences, science) before he begins his second year at the University.

On motion of Mr. Blair, these recommendations were approved.

G I F T FROM MRS. ADOLPH G E H R M A N N (5) A report that a library of three hundred and six beautifully bound volumes belonging to Dr. Adolph Gehrmann, formerly on our staff, has been presented to the Library of the College of Medicine by his widow, Mrs. Gehrmann. I have acknowledged this gift with thanks.

NIRIDER PROPERTY (6) A report that the purchase of the Nirider property (seepage 151) had been completed.

RESOLUTIONS FROM ASSOCIATED EMPLOYERS O F CHAMPAIGN A N D URBANA (7) A letter and resolutions adopted by the Associated Employers of Champaign and Urbana, relating to the matter of local building activities.

On motion of Mr. Blair, these papers were received for record and placed on file.

PURCHASE OF RESIDENCE OF PROFESSOR JOEL STEBBINS (8) At your last meeting you gave me authority to negotiate for the purchase of the residence of Professor Joel Stebbins. The Comptroller reports to me that on April 1 he received from Judge Harker a contract for the purchase of this property for the sum of #11,500, payable on or before April 20, 1922, and possession to be given on or before July 1, 1922. The Comptroller reports that he executed this contract and secured the signature and seal of the Secretary of the Board, and that Professor Stebbins has executed the deed to the property and delivered it in escrow. I ask approval of this procedure and recommend that the sum of #11,500 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent fund to pay for this property.
