or other systems of grading, this requirement will be interpreted to mean an average of one grade above the passing grade, e. g.y in a system of A, B, C, and D, with D as the passing grade, the average must be C.

This recommendation was approved.

I N D E M N I T Y B O N D FOR LOSS OF CHECK A recommendation that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, That Lloyd Morey, Comptroller, be authorized to execute to the United States of America, in the name of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, a "bond of indemnity for the issue of a duplicate check" in the amount of One Hundred and Twenty Dollars ($120.00) on account of the loss of United States check Number 3074444, dated September 30, 1921, drawn by William H. Holmes, Disbursing Clerk, United States Veteran Bureau, to the order of the University of Illinois. (6)

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this resolution was adopted without dissenting vote.

LOCATION O F AGRICULTURE BUILDING (7) A recommendation, renewing that of August 1st, 1921, in which the Dean of the College of Agriculture and the Supervising Architect concur, that the Agriculture building be put south of the plats just in the rear of the Observatory and that the building be devoted to class rooms and offices. A further recommendation that the architect be directed to prepare plans at once in consultation with the Supervising Architect of the University with reference to the inside arrangement and the specifications, and that the plans and specification be completed so as to enable the Board to let a contract not later than the meeting in May.

Mrs. Busey moved that these recommendations be concurred in, and this motion was later adopted, after Professor White had exhibited the sketches prepared by Mr. Piatt showing the style of design and plans.

C. P. A. CERTIFICATES (8) A recommendation that the Certificate of Certified Public Accountant be issued to the following persons certified by the committee on Accountancy:

On motion of Mrs. Evans this recommendation was concurred in.

CURRICULUM IN GAS ENGINEERING (9) A recommendation that the faculty of the College of Engineering be authorized to offer a curriculum in Gas Engineering leading to an appropriate degree.

On motion of Mr. Herbert, this recommendation was approved.

COMMUTATION OF MILITARY UNIFORMS (10) A request for authority to ask the War Department for commutation of military uniforms.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this authority was granted. At this point, Dr. Noble took his place with the Board, and Professor J. M. White also arrived.
