L A B O R A T O R Y F E E I N H O M E E C O N O M I C S -41 (14) A recommendation that a laboratory fee of $5 be authorized for Home Economics 41, Problems in Nutrition, a course offered for the first time this coming semester.

This fee was approved.

SPECIAL EXAMINATION R U L E E X T E N D E D T O H E A L T H EXAMINATIONS

(15) A recommendation that the rule requiring the payment of #5.00 for a special examination—that is, an examination made necessary by the student's failure to take the examination at the regularly specified time—be extended to include special physical examinations by the Health Department,

This recommendation was approved.

SCHOLARSHIP R E Q U I R E M E N T FOR ADMISSION OF NON-ILLINOIS STUDENTS (16) A recommendation that on and after September 1, 1922, all applicants for admission to the University who are not legal residents of Illinois shall be required to present with their applications for admission to any of the colleges or schools of the University, except as special students or as students in the Graduate School, satisfactory evidence that they maintained at the school or college from which they would enter the University of Illinois a scholastic average at least ten per cent above the passing grade of such school or college. In case of records which are not kept in numerical grades but in literal or other systems of grading, this requirement will be interpreted to mean an average of one grade above the passing grade, e. g., in a system of A, B, C, and D, with D as the passing grade, the average must be C.

This recommendation was approved.

HORSEBACK RIDING U N D E R MILITARY D E P A R T M E N T (17) A recommendation that Major Dailey be given permission to accede to requests to give instruction in horseback riding and to make a charge of $25 for thirty-two lessons; further, that the money so paid in be paid to the Comptroller as if ordinary University receipts, and be kept by him in a special fund for disbursement to meet the expenses of the Military Department in connection with the horses and for no other purpose, the amount so expended not to exceed the receipts.

These recommendations were approved.

O F F E R O F P R O P E R T Y O F F O R M E R W I L L I A M 6* VASHTI COLLEGE (18) The following statement: An oifer has been made to the University through Mr. Trimble, and later by Mr. O. E. Carlstrom through me, of certain buildings formerly part of William and Vashti College at Aledo, Illinois. After consultation with several of my colleagues I am unable to see how we could take advantage of this generous offer, and I therefore recommend that it be declined with thanks.

LEAVE O F ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR FITZ-GERALD (19) A recommendation that Professor John D. Fitz-Gerald of the Department of Romance Languages be granted a Sabbatical leave of absence for the academic year of 1922-23, under the rule of the Board relating to such absences.
