The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.

R E G I S T R A T I O N , OCTOBER 10, 1921 (1) A statement that the total registration on October 10, 1921, was 8948 students, of whom 8178 were in Urbana and 770 in the departments in Chicago.

This report was received for record.

UNIVERSITY STATISTICIAN (2) A report for authority to appoint a University Statistician at a salary not to exceed $3000 a year.

On motion of Mrs. Blake this request was granted.

C O N T R A C T W I T H T H E F E D E R A L BOARD FOR VOCATIONAL E D U C A T I O N FOR 1 9 2 1-1 9 2 2 (3) A request for authority to execute the proposed contract with the Federal Board for Vocational Education as of the first of July, as submitted, with the proviso that such changes may be made as are necessary on account of the changes in the laboratory and other fees in the University.

On motion of Mr. Hoit, authority was granted the President of the University to execute this contract.

L E A V E O F ABSENCE FOR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR A. H. KOLLER (4) A recommendation that leave of absence on full pay for one semester be granted to Professor A. H. Koller on account of illness.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this recommendation was concurred in.

I N J U R Y T O MISS V E R N A BROOKS (5) A request for authority to grant leave of absence to Miss Verna Brooks, Associate in Physical Education, who is temporarily disabled by injury.

This matter was referred to the President of the University with power to act.

A P P R O P R I A T I O N FOR LABORATORY SUPPLIES, SCHOOL O F PHARMACY (6) A request for an appropriation of $2000 from the Reserve and Contingent Fund, to be assigned by the President for the purchase of additional laboratory supplies in the School of Pharmacy if on further inquiry he deems this necessary.

On motion of Mrs. Blake, this request was granted. The appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Hoit; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Noble, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble.

RESOLUTION F R O M T H E I N D I A N A P O L I S ILL1NI CLUB A resolution from the Indianapolis Illini Club. Whereas, The Central West was once inhabited by a most remarkable prehistoric race; and— Whereas, a movement is on foot to investigate and explore the extensive group of Indian mounds at Cahokia, near East St. Louis, 111.; and— Whereas, the location of the state of Illinois being so central in the extensive territory occupied by the pre-historic race mentioned, viz.—the Mound-Builders, so (7)
