E N T R A N C E E X A M I N A T I O N S IN CHICAGO The following statement: The University conducts each year in Chicago four sets of examinations in high school subjects primarily for candidates for admission to the C. P. A. examination and bar examination. The questions are prepared and the papers graded by members of the faculty, and the general arrangements handled by the Registrar. The candidates pay a fee of $1.00 for each examination giving one unit of credit. Until recently the whole matter has been of small dimensions. In June, 1918, only 33 persons were examined; but in March of this year, 340 different persons wrote examinations totaling more than 1200 units. This means at least 1200 manuscripts to be read by certain members of the faculty, and it seems improper to continue to impose this burden of extraneous work without special compensation. (10)
