AFTERNOON SESSION, JUNE 2, 1920 When the Board resumed its session at 2:30 p. m., the same members were present as during the morning session. Acting President Kinley was present.

DIRECTOR THORNE PRESENTS PLANS

The Board listened to a presentation of the plans for State hospitals and medical research laboratories by the Honorable C. H. Thome, Director of Public Welfare. Director Thome stated that, in view of the high cost of building, it would be necessary to put all the available money into the building itself, leaving the furniture and equipment to be provided for at the next session of the General Assembly. President Carr stated that the Executive Committee had approved the proposal of Director Thorne to use the $300,000 appropriated for the Clinical Laboratory (p. 490) in this way. On motion of Mrs. Blake, this action of the Executive Committee was approved.

NEWSPAPER REPORTERS ASK TO A T T E N D MEETINGS

The Board listened to the presentation of a request by Mr. J. M, Cleary, 1906, President of the Chicago Illini Club, that newspaper reporters be regularly admitted to the sessions of the Board. During the presentation of this matter, President Carr was called from the room for a time, and Mr. Ward acted as chairman. The matter of admitting representatives of the newspapers was discussed, but no action was taken.
