Authority was given to take over the Y. M. C. A. building in accordance with this proposition.

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR J. L. GRIFFITH (4) A recommendation that John Lorenzo Griffith, at present executive officer, Athletic Division, U. S. Army, be appointed Assistant Professor of Athletic Coaching and Physical Education in the Department of Physical Education of the College of Education at a salary of $2,000 for the term of one year from September 1,1919. It is understood that the Athletic Association is to pay Mr. Griffith an additional salary of $1,750.

This recommendation was approved.

PUBLICATION OF THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (5) A proposed contract with The Public School Publishing Company of Bloomington, Illinois, for the publishing of a monthly magazine devoted to educational research and its application to school instruction. THIS AGREEMENT made in the city of .on the day of 1919 is between the Trustees of the University of Illinois, Party of the First Part, and The Public School Publishing Company, of Bloomington, Illinois, Party of the Second Part. For a good and valuable consideration, the said Parties do hereby mutually agree to and with each other, as follows: ARTICLE ONE The Party of the First Part agrees to give editorial management for a monthly magazine devoted to educational research and its application to school instruction. This management is to include securing articles and editorials for at least fifty-six pages to be furnished to the Party of the Second Part at least twenty days before the date fixed for monthly publication. The magazine is to carry the announcement that it is published under the authority of the University of Illinois. ARTICLE TWO The party of the Second Part agrees to publish, and to put upon the market through the usual means, and to assume all the financial obligations and business management of printing and selling the magazine devoted to educational research. Said magazine is to contain not less than sixty-four pages and cover or more than eighty, the paper used to be of the standard quality of that in the Psychological Review and set on linotype machine with eleven point type leaded. Said magazine is to be issued monthly for ten months in each year and copyrighted by the University of Illinois. The yearly subscription price to be $2.50. ARTICLE THREE It is further mutually agreed that this contract shall be for a term of five years and renewable for a like term. ARTICLE FOUR Also it is mutually agreed that by reason of the assumption of all financial obligations and business management, all amounts of money received for subscriptions and for advertising space are to be put to the credit of the Party of the Second Part. ARTICLE FIFE Also it is mutually agreed that the University of Illinois is to receive annually for the use of the editorial board twenty per cent of the amount paid by the subscribers provided, however, that no payment is due to the University on the subscriptions for the first year and no payment is due for the second or ensuing years unless there are two thousand or more paid subscribers. ARTICLE SIX In case it is found by January first 1921 that the combined efforts of the publisher and the editors do not create sufficient demand for a magazine of this character to insure the number of subscribers necessary to pay for its publication then the magazine may by mutual agreement be discontinued and this contract annulled and the Party
