REQUEST F O R H O R T I C U L T U R E B U I L D I N G (15) A request from Professor J. C. Blair endorsed by Dean Eugene Davenport that a new horticultural building be erected for the use of the Department of Horticulture as soon as possible.

The matter was carefully considered but no action was taken.

D E P A R T M E N T O F PUBLIC SPEAKING (16) A request from Professor C. H. Woolbert for the establishment of a separate department of oral or speech subjects involving the taking of the courses in public speaking from the Department of English, under which they are at present classified.

After a full discussion of this subject no action was taken.

EXCHANGE PROFESSORSHIPS (17) A request from Professor John D. Fitz-Gerald, Acting Head of the Department of Romance Languages, for the establishment by the University of Illinois of four exchange professorships with foreign countries, viz., France, Spain, England, and some South American country.

No action was taken on this request.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR FRENCH SOLDIER (18) A request from the committee authorized to assist men who had been in service of the foreign countries on the side of the Allies during the Great War to grant a scholarship to a young French soldier who desired to pursue his studies in Political Science at the University of Illinois for the term of three months. This would involve granting a remission of fees for that period and a stipendium of perhaps thirty or thirtyfive dollars a month during the present quarter.

This matter was referred to the President of the University with power to act. The Executive Committee adjourned.
