(49) A letter from the Comptroller asking that the President and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees be authorized to execute warranty deeds for the Smith farms at Fisher and St. Joseph in accordance with contracts already approved.

It was voted that Robert F. Carr, President, and H. E. Cunningham, Secretary, of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, be authorized to execute proper warranty deeds, conveying the following described real estate, in accordance with contracts previously approved by the Board of Trustees: I. To Curtis E. Underwood, the Northwest Quarter of Section Thirty-one (31), Township Twenty-two (22) North, Range Eight (8) East of the Third Principal Meridian, except One (1) acre in the Southwest Quarter of said Northwest Quarter, and except also the existing right-of-way of the Illinois Central Railroad over a portion of said land. II. To George E. Jones, the South One-half of the Northeast Quarter of Section Thirty-one (31), Township Twenty-two (22) North, Range Eight (8) East of the Third Principal Meridian, except the existing right-of-way of the Illinois Central Railroad over a portion of said land. III. To Elmer Ehler, the Southwest Quarter and the West Onehalf of the Southeast Quarter of Section Twenty-six (26) North, Range Ten (10) East of the Third Principal Meridian.

C O M M A N D A N T A D D E D TO COUNCIL OF A D M I N I S T R A T I O N (43) A recommendation that the Military Commandant, who ranks as Professor of Military Science and Tactics, be made a member of the Council of Administration.

This recommendation was approved.

ASSISTANT COMPTROLLER A U T H O R I Z E D TO S I G N WARRANTS (44) A recommendation from the Comptroller that the President and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to delegate to the Assistant Comptroller authority to sign their names to warrants on the Treasurer of the University and to vouchers against the Auditor of Public Accounts, in cases of emergency; provided that the Assistant Comptroller may not in any case sign the names of both the President and the Secretary to the same document.

This request was approved.

S T A T E HOSPITAL FACILITIES (45) A statement that the Director of Public Welfare, Mr. Charles H. Thorne, has suggested a plan of co-operation between the Department of Public Welfare and the University of Illinois under which in a general way the University is to take over the medical service in certain hospitals about to be erected in the city of Chicago with the privilege of using these hospitals for purposes of instruction.
