BOARD OF TRUSTEES

President E. J. James, University of Illinois

M Y DEAR PRESIDENT JAMES:

Since the contract for printing the Semi-Centennial Alumni Record is carried as a charge against the fund for that enterprise the appropriation is considerably overdrawn. I suggest that an additional appropriation for $5,500 be requested. The fund at the beginning of the book was Disbursements to Jan. 1 amounted to Contract for printing, etc Contract for additional 500 copies Clerical work, changes, postage, etc Deficit on January 1 $4,052.69 4,439.33 3,658.00 375.00 1,080.36 386.64 $5,500.00 The unexpectedly large number of changes in and additions to the data, following on the ending of the war, the circularizing of the alumni to stimulate the sale of the book, and the rechecking of all material made necessary by hitherto undetected omissions from earlier editions have served to increase the cost beyond my estimate of August 27, 1918. Respectfully yours,

FRANK W. SCOTT,

Editor

An appropriation of fifty-five hundred dollars ($5,500) was made towards the completion of this work.
