NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, APPOINTMENT OF MR. F. C. BAKER

(10) The nomination of Mr. Frank C. Baker to be Curator of the Natural History Museum for one year at a salary of $2,000, beginning when he reports for duty, which will probably be about January 1, 1918. On motion of Mr. Taggart, this appointment was made. The vote was as follows: Aye, President Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Taggart, Miss Watson; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Lowden, Mr. Trevett, Mr. Trimble, Mr. Ward.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY UNION IN EUROPE

( n ) The following statement: Acting in accordance with the authority given by the Board on September 11, 1917, I have indicated to the Secretary of the American University Union in Europe that the University would become a member of the Union, the object of which is to furnish social facilities to the graduates of Amercan Universities connected with military and naval forces in Europe (See page 419). The fee for the University is $500, as the University has more than 10,000 graduates. This report was received for record. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR MR. W. J CARMICHAEL . (12) A recommendation from Professor H. W. Mumford of the department of animal husbandry, approved by Dean Eugene Davenport, that Mr. W. J. Carmichael, Associate in Animal Husbandry, be given leave of absence from November 1, 1917, to January 1, 1918, without salary, to assist in the work of the Federal Bureau of Animal Industry in the project of increasing pork production in this state. On motion of Mr. Hoit, the President of the University was given authority to grant this leave of absence. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR BENTLEY (13) A statement that, under the authority given by the Board (page 512) the President of the University has granted leave of absence without salary to Dr. Madison Bentley, Professor of Psychology, who has been called into the military service of the government in the department of aviation. This report was received for record.
