James, University of Illinois MY DEAR PRESIDENT JAMES : The United States War Department has compelled us to return the greater part of the ordnance and ordnance stores issued to the University during the early part of the year and which was valued at a total of $49,326.03. The items remaining on hand at the present time as shown by the enclosed list, are valued at $10,112.65. I have, therefore, cancelled the insurance policies carried on the former lot of equipment, as scheduled on page 274 of the Board minutes of April
