On motion of Mrs. Busey, this recommendation was concurred in. The vote was as follows: Ayes, President Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Taggart, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Lowden, Mr. Trevvett, Mr. Trimble.

AUTHORITY TO ACCEPT RESIGNATIONS AND FILL VACANCIES (10) A request for the usual authority to accept resignations and fill vacancies in the University staff.

On motion of Mr. Carr, this authority was conferred on the President of the University. TRANSFER OF TREASURER'S FUNDS

(11) A letter from the Comptroller concerning the payment of funds to the Treasurer of the University by H. S. Capron, former Treasurer. July 30, 1917 President Edmund J. James, University of Illinois

M Y DEAR PRESIDENT J A M E S :

I beg to advise you that I have received a report from Mr. Edmund D. Hulbert, Treasurer of the University, showing a remittance received from Mr. H. S. Capron, former Treasurer, in the amount of $747.42 made as follows: Balance as reported by Arthur Young & Company in the hands of Mr. Capron May 1, 1917, page 377 of the Minutes of the Board of Trustees $1,432.64 W a r r a n t s paid by Mr. Capron to July 24th and returned to the Comptroller 685.22 Balance on hand July 24th remitted in full to Mr. Hulbert, Treasurer, as indicated above—. $ 747.42 This does not cover whatever adjustment in the payment of interest on balances may be directed by the Financial Committee in accordance with the recent action of the Board.
