These bids were laid before a conference consisting of the President of the University, Sergeant F. W . Post of the Military Department, the Supervising Architect, and the Comptroller. It is the opinion of this conference that contracts for the various items of uniform should be awarded as follows: Jacob Reed's Sons Coat and breeches made of olive drab woolen cloth No. 3213, 13 ounce, made by the Clinton Mills of Clinton, Michigan $18.50 Cap of same material 1.75 Mills Web Belt 60 Ideal canvas leggings 1.25 Olive drab berlin gloves 55 Collar 13 Insignia of rank 30 $23.08 Roger E. Zombro of Champaign Crest army shirt No. 1090 Black silk four-in-hand tie U. S. A. "Munson" shoes No. 50, Garrison last, Lotus blucher, made by the Joseph F. Herman Company of Boston, Mass., per pair Total cost of uniform

The above price will apply in the case of all non-commissioned officers and privates, commissioned officers being required to secure pigskin puttees in place of canvas leggings, the price of the puttees being $5.00. To the above prices must be added the cost of chevrons for the various officers of the regimdnt, varying from $.25 to $1.20. I would respectfully recommend that I be given authority to close contracts with these two concerns for the items named at the prices set opposite each, and that I be given authority to collect from all students required to register in Military Science the coming fall and not already provided with satisfactory uniforms, a deposit of $26.63 to cover all items of the uniform excepting shoes. It is understood that the University will require every student registered in Military Science to supply himself with all of the items included tinder this price. No deposit will be collected by
