VALUE OF MEDICAL AND DENTAL BUILDINGS

(22) A statement concerning the Value of the Medical and Dental plants of the University. The following estimate was made of the value of the Medical and Dental property of the University in Chicago by McKey and Poague, real-estate and insurance agents: Medical building, $273,716.69; Dental building, $120,393.00; total, $394,109.69; equipment, etc., of buildings, $'135,000.00. Total value of buildings and contents, exclusive of land occupied, $529,109.69. The valuation put on the Medical and Dental property given above was based on its valuation for insurance purposes. The University has taken out a total insurance of $360,000 on this property. There is no doubt that it would cost considerably more than $600,000.00 to acquire an amount of land equal to that occupied by these buildings in an equally favorable location aiid to erect and equip buildings as adapted to their purpose as those now occupied by the University, tho of course if we had that amount of money we could get new buildings instead of old buildings such as we have.f This statement was received for record.
