(3) A request from the Department of Zoology, approved by Dean K. C. Babcpck, for an appropriation of $700 for the purchase of equipment necessary to carry on Courses 1 and 2 in Human Anatomy.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, the sum of seven hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, was appropriated for the purchase of equipment as requested above. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Small, Mr. Trevett.

(4) Announcement of the death of Albert P. Grout, formerly a member of the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Hoit and Mrs. Evans were -appointed a committee to draft resolutions to be sent to the surviving members of the family, to be printed in the minutes, and to be given to the press.

C O N F E R E N C E OF C O L L E G E PRESIDENTS.

(5) A request for authority to hold a conference of the college presidents of the State to consider the relations of the colleges with the University; and for an appropriation of $250 to pay the traveling expenses of the persons invited and the other expenses of the conference.

On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, authority to call such a conference was granted and the sum of two hundred fifty dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, was appropriated for this purpose. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Small, Mr. Trevett.

S E N A T E COMMITTEES ENLARGED. . (6) A recommendation from the University Senate that the statute (University of Illinois Statutes, 1908, page 35, IV, 1 and 2) concerning the standing committees of the Senate he amended to provide for seven members (instead of rive) of the Committee on Educational Policy and the Committee on the Library.

On motion of Mr. Carr, this recommendation was approved.

AUTOMOBILE FOR T H E O P E R A T I N G

DEPARTMENT.

(7) A request from the Operating Department for the purchase of a^fivepassenger Ford which has been rented for some time for the use of that depart ment The machine is a second-hand car that has been run two hundred titty Sues, and is m excellent condition. It is equipped with shock absorbers and all accessories and cost when new $465 The amount already paid for rental $235 may be applied on the purchase of the car; the appropriation of the balance (*17 5) is now requested. . ,„„„

On motion of Mrs. Evans, the sum of one hundred seventy-five dollars was appropriated for the purchase of this automobile. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Small, Mr. Trevett.
