MEETING OF DECEMBER 14, 1915. The quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Blackstone Hotel, in the city of Chicago, on Tuesday, December 14, 1915, at 12.00 m. The following members were present: President Abbott, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson. President James was present. [ APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The Secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of October 14, 1915. On motion of Mr. Carr, the minutes were approved as printed above on pages 845 to 857, inclusive. MATTERS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The board proceeded to the consideration of the following matters presented by President James: S A F E G U A R D I N G OF COLLECTIONS. (1) The following statement: A recent defalcation by the cashier of a neighboring university caused me to examine again the system employed by the University of Illinois to safeguard the funds collected by the institution. In response to my request, the Comptroller has submitted a communication of several pages covering the points involved. I recommend that this communication be referred to the Finance Committee for consideration and report. This recommendation was concurred in. R E G I S T R A T I O N , N O V E M B E R 1, 1915.
