MEETING OF MARCH 2, 1915.

A special meeting of the BoarM of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Blaekstone Hotel, in the city of Chicago, at 12.30 p. m., on Tuesday, March 2, 1915, pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the Secretary on February 17, 1915: Upon the call of the President, Mr. W. L. Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at the Blaekstone Hotel, in Chicago, on Tuesday, March 2, 1915, at 12.30 p. m., to consider such matters as the committees of the board and the President of the University may submit, and such other matters as may be duly presented. When the board convened, the following members were present: President Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Moore, Miss "Watson. During a part of the afternoon, Professors D. A. K. Steele, G. P. Dreyer, Casey A. Wood, C. S. Williamson, and C. S. Bacon, of the College of Medicine, were present. President James was present. President Abbott requested Mr. Allen F. Moore, whose term expires on March 9, to take the chair. Mr. Moore presided throughout the afternoon.. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The Secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of January 30, 1915. On motion of Mr. Abbott, the minutes were approved in the form printed above on pages 188 to 203, inclusive. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The Secretary presented for record the following list of appointments made by President James to fill vacancies: Baumgartner, Rachel, Graduate Assistant in Zoology, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, a t a salary of thirty dollars ($30) a month. (February 22, 1913.)* Beard, J. H., Medical Examiner for the Classified Civil Service Employees in the University, at a salary of twenty-five dollars ($25) a month, beginning February 1, 1915, and continuing until further notice. (February 5, 1915.) Benson, Susan T., Loan Assistant in the Library, on one-half time, at a salary of thirty-seven and one-half dollars ($37.50) a month, beginning February 3, 1915, or^as soon as she reports for duty, and continuing until August 31, 1915. (February 3, 1915.) Braley, Silas A., Assistant in Chemistry, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month; this appointment superseding his former appointment as Graduate Assistant. (February 20, 1915.) Conel, Jesse L., Assistant in Zoology, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, at a salary of sixty dollars ($60) a month. (February 22, 1915.) Evans, Walter, Instructor in Wrestling-, for three months beginning January 1, 1915, a t a salary of one hundred dollars ($100) a month. (February 6, 1915.) Fiero, Elmer E., Clerk in the Office of the Dean of Men, beginning February 1, 1915, and continuing until August 31, 1915, a t a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month. (February 5, 1915.) Footit, Frank F., Graduate Assistant in Chemistry, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, at a salary of thirty dollars ($30) a month; this appointment superseding his former appointment as Student Assistant. (February 20, 1915.) Kellogg, Amelia L., Assistant in Botany, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, at a salary of three hundred dollars ($300) for the semester. (March 1, 1915.) Marshall, Ruth, Temporary Instructor in Zoology, beginning February 1, 1915, and continuing until further notice or until June 30, 1915, at a salary of one hundred twenty dollars ($120) a month. (February 22, 1915.) Rowland, Floyd E., Student Assistant in Chemistry, for five months beginning February 1, 1915, at a saiary of ten dollars ($10) a month. (February 20, 1915.) Spindler, George W., Assistant in German^ on part time, for the second semester of the current academic year, with an honorarium of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) for teaching one class during the semester.
